Hon. Tammy Stokes
Born and raised in Savannah, Judge Stokes is dedicated to working for her hometown. She has served as President of the Council of Municipal Court Judges, as well as on the Boards of United Way, Leadership Savannah, Goodness and Mercy Foundation, Chatham Savannah Citizens Advocacy, and the Armstrong Atlantic Foundation.
Judge Stokes attended University of Georgia and graduated from the University of Georgia School of Law. She has worked in many positions including Prosecutor and Trial Attorney for DeKalb County Juvenile Court, DeKalb Solicitors Office, Fulton County District Attorney’s Office, and as a Litigator for State Farm Insurance Company. She then returned home to Savannah where she opened her own law practice.
The first African American woman judge in Chatham County, Judge Stokes has served on the Chatham County Recorder’s Court for the past fourteen years.
Judge Stokes is passionate about mentoring youth in the Savannah area. From attending career days, speaking at universities, to other formal and informal mentoring relationships, she has been an active member in serving the community throughout the years.
